A deepening passwall

I can count to one thousand years
by the sum of my birthdays
and there is life, a nickname,
wanting someone like me back.
Wondering what that smell is–
been like this since the buildings
outside Spain were small,
and snorkling under here I learned
enough English for you:
it feels good to give
your body for my residence,
this baby yet faceless
but well faceward sent.
