A mutt in hot ruins

The dog drinks
people left unattended
adrift and longer yet in wait.
What of them? They tend to think
of worn out forests,
of their children in the mild cess,
of their feet at rest
so long from their ankles—
& drinking so the dog too
will die with his mouth and lips like glue.

“…lips like glue…” or “…lips in glue…?”

Problems with art never fade out.
