Gill to gill

Formula I found a couple years back. I ached
in growing pains and mewled for a bit,
counting my miseries like collected clovers.

My brain thought it was busy when it was not.
It is, after all, a human thing and loused up
for it, lousy with perpetrations, never math.

Formula I found a couple years back. Two halves
of mankind ever were, the firsts and seconds.
Firsts grin like nervous capuchins halted by

the lord monkey, a bit of skull in his mouth.
Seconds roam around collecting their bits
of skull. They never grin. They learn Duchenne.
