A quarter in the drain

The hysteria of being
as the lobe chimes in
gives thoughtlessness its pause:
no boy is a satisfied phenomenon
of his desire and his law:
the age of fruition
comes slow or not at all
like piecemeal perdition
when the body grows tall,
though its boyhood groans yet.

One Response to “A quarter in the drain”

  1. The etymology of hysteria reflects oddly on this poem.
