Veneers work, too

Babel croaks, yields its books
to the glorious reproduction
of pedants set afire, dancers
quoted in the Pentateuch:
every truth deprived of fury
must balk, ephemera these,
grand diagnoses that veneers work:
for the very conquering of names
is awful, the muscles sprung
from brain to ache, endless vanities
heaped upon vanities as dimwit boys
blabber in a madhouse shade Goya painted.

  1. This one in particular speaks to me.
