On the valor of the idle

Grotesque the artist
aligned with business:
the dollar wields
a deal poeisis:
like buzzards after
the happy-enough dead
misery follows genesis:
to die the well-read
need barely oblige,
nor the noncomittal rest:
why not, then, early,
as the body’s undressed
prior to its gambling
of years for dividends:
or, for all the recompense,
die for a grave shallow
as you’ll become one day?
