On a stranger’s hypocrisy

A craftswoman in Nashville
sees angels everywhere—
seraphim from the Caucasus—
she prays to God and psychiatry—
offers Xanax to her guests,
holier than thou art—
accuses me of being a demon
and wallows in epilepsy—
a portrait of a good woman
deluded as they come—
an anthropologist
scares the scapegoats off—
