The groundwork industry

The moral sense examined
profits a common misery:
an industry of words
combs between communities:
“I loathe,” and, “I suffer,”
build a stout compassion—
each man is handsome
in the dress of his companion—
Old Death come to prowl
behind his head—to say—
“I gave you plenty of company,”
and halted, goes away—
The Fable of the Bees denies
a pursuit beyond the self—
the idea of a body—fine
enough conceived, and bought—
dissipates in its sharing
when the others full partake—
